Making and Mobilizing Disciples for LIFE
Our mission is to partner with parents making disciples within their home and mobilizing them and their children for LIFE-Love God, Invest in Others, Fulfill their Calling, and Embrace God’s Calling
- Every child is created by God (Prov. 22:2).
- Every child bears the image of God (Gen. 1:27).
- Every child possesses potential and purpose because they were created by God (Eph. 2:10).
We are committed to:
1. Partner with parents resourcing them as the spiritual leaders of their home.
Scripture teaches that parents are the primary spiritual leaders in the life of their child (ren). This does not imply parents are the sole influence in their child’s life; rather parents must intentionally place their child in environments where they know and grow in Christ. Tad Thompson writes, “The spiritual futures of children must be placed as a matter of primary importance back into the hands of the people who have the greatest opportunity to influence them for the Kingdom of God- their parents.” We are committed to supporting parents as they fulfill their God-given responsibility as the spiritual leaders of their home, partnering with them as they disciple their children for LIFE.
2. Engage our children in the study of God’s Word reaching their Head, Heart, and Hands.
The Gospel Project is a dynamic curriculum that walks students from Kindergarten-6th grade through the Bible. We use this curriculum because we desire for each of our students to be exposed to God’s Word and the Gospel story which runs throughout all of Scripture. Our teachers and leaders are expected to take full advantage of the resources and curriculum available through the Gospel Project, ensuring that each week the study is clearly connected to the person and work of Christ and each student has the opportunity to be exposed to the meta-narrative of Scripture.
“The business done in the home is nothing less than the shaping of bodies and souls of humanity. The family is the factory that manufactures mankind” -G.K Chesterton
3. Create an environment that fosters spiritual growth and excitement.
The Psalmist once said, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord (Ps. 122:1)!” This is the attitude we hope to develop within our children as they come to Kids LIFE.
Our children’s ministry begins in a large group setting where we will lead the students in dynamic worship and lively study. Students will then break up into small groups according to grade and continue the study through age appropriate activities and discussion. Each week we have designed our study to engage the students Head, Heart, and Hands. We believe both our large group and small group are necessary as they provide the necessary atmosphere and elements for comprehension and application.
Students will be dropped off in the large group setting and parents will pick students up from their small group classroom. Each week there will be signs and leaders who will give you clear direction on where to drop off and pick up your child. A children’s leader will welcome students into the large group setting, ensuring each child has been properly checked in. When parents pick the child up the teacher will ensure the child’s name tag and parents ticket match before letting children leave. If there is confusion or a child/parent has lost their identification the teacher will contact a ministry leader. We are committed to providing a safe and friendly environment for every parent and student. We are committed to training and resourcing our teachings to create and maintain such an environment (for more information see our Policies and Procedures Manual).
